Blood Moon - White Tea
Blood Moon returns as a fascinating outlier in the world of Yunnan tea. While it’s harvested and shade-dried in the traditional yueguangbai (Moonlight White) style, this batch underwent a deliberate partial oxidation—landing it roughly halfway between a white and a black tea. The result is a unique "hybrid" experience that mirrors the complexity of a well-aged white tea.
The Profile
The liquor pours exceptionally bright and clear, offering a resilient sweetness and a plush, velvety mouthfeel. On the nose, you’ll find a playful dance between garden-fresh notes and deep fruit.
Current Tasting Notes: Soft strawberry and grassy honey dominate the palate. Marshmallow sweetness.
Aging Potential: While vibrant now, we expect the body to thicken and the flavors to deepen significantly with a few years of rest.
Technical Specs
Weight: 200g per cake.
Vintage: 2025 Pressing.
Producer: White2Tea
The Category Debate
Strictly speaking, its partial oxidation technically classifies Blood Moon as an Oolong. However, because it lacks the typical characteristics of that category and drinks much more like a bridge between white and black tea, we’ve categorized it as the latter. It is a beautiful, experimental tea that defies easy labeling.
