What are you drinking?

Select your beverage type so I can calculate the caffeine content accurately. Different drinks have vastly different caffeine levels!

How is it brewed?

Why does this matter?
Espresso extracts caffeine quickly under pressure (25-30 seconds), but uses less coffee. Drip/pour over takes longer but uses more grounds, often resulting in higher total caffeine per serving.

What part of the plant?

Why does this matter?
Caffeine acts as a natural pesticide in tea plants, concentrating most heavily in buds and young leaves to protect them from insects. Buds contain the most caffeine, while mature leaves have significantly less. If you're unsure, choose the middle option.

How much coffee?

Why does this matter?
Caffeine content scales directly with the amount of coffee grounds used. More grounds = more caffeine extracted. A typical cup uses 10-15g, while espresso uses 7-9g per shot.

Standard: 15g for drip, 7g for espresso

How much tea?

Why does this matter?
The amount of tea leaves directly determines total caffeine available. More leaves = more potential caffeine. Western-style brewing typically uses 2-3g, while Gongfu style uses 5-8g or more.

Standard: 2-3g western style, 5-8g gongfu

How will you brew it?

Why does this matter?
Caffeine extraction depends on how many times you steep the leaves. One steep extracts about 55% of available caffeine, while brewing until the leaves are exhausted can extract up to 90% of total caffeine from the dry leaf.
